On Saturday 24 February, George featured as the latest ‘Meet the Maker’ as part of Oswestry Qube’s Process Exhibition. As well as viewing the fantastic exhibition pieces by a variety of local artists, including George’s Treeman process piece, visitors were treated to a first look of George latest work in progress.

“Being an artist often means working alone for long periods of time, so it’s always a real joy to be in a creative space and show people how I work. I had some lovely discussions with people interested in my work and it was a pleasure to get some curious children involved in having a play around modelling with wax and clay.”

An exciting weekend of FREE events for all art lovers will be held at Carden Park from Friday 1st until Sunday 3rd March.

Cheshire Art Weekend will be hosted by art curator and BBC’s Antiques Roadshow expert, Grant Ford of Winsor Birch. Events include a tour of Carden Park’s Sculpture Garden, artist talks as well as an art valuation day.

George will be available throughout Saturday and Sunday to discuss his thoughts and processes behind his featured work. For full details, please visit Cheshire Art Weekend.

A weekend not to be missed!

George’s sculpture, Between Love and Fear was unexpectedly shown on Wednesday’s This Morning program on ITV. This magnificent piece is a central work at Carden’s Park’s well-renowned sculpture garden.

“It was an incredibly pleasant shock to have the TV on in the background and catch it live! I am super thankful to Grant Ford @winsorbirchltd for the support, kind words and exposure,” and
in response to the presenter’s jovial comments, George explains: “It’s made out of bronze with a steel base so it would survive a few hundred kids, dogs and husbands climbing on it for a good few thousand years!”

The Qube’s latest exhibition aims to celebrate amazing artists working in a variety of mediums and will kick off with an open evening on Thursday 1st February 6–8pm.
This event is free and open to everyone – refreshments will be available.

Qube’s Art Officer, Gemma Manning-Bentley explains her idea behind the exhibition: “We love to see finished artworks, but this time we wanted to see how artists get from idea to completed piece. This exhibition shows sketchbooks, doodles, notes, prototypes, maquettes, samples, testers, swatches, unfinished pieces, works in progress and complete failures! As well as the exhibition, there will be opportunities to meet with artists during drop-in sessions on Saturday mornings.”

George’s background work for Treeman is part of the exhibition, and offers a fascinating insight into the stages of his work; from drawings and maquettes, to moulds and beautiful miniature sculptures.

A few weeks into the exhibition, George will be at Qube for the ‘Meet the Maker’ session on 24 February between 10am and 12pm. So, if you have any questions or want to see what he’s working on do come along for a chat!

Last weekend, Manchester Art Fair saw over 150 artist stands and almost 13,000 visitors pass through the doors.

With several artworks on show, George’s work was certainly a crowd-pleaser; “Apparently ‘Collision I’ was the most photographed work on the stand! It’s great that so many people connected with this piece, and I’m thrilled that it got the exposure it deserves”.

But before the doors officially opened, there were some challenges along the way, explains George; “Physically getting the pieces into the centre and correctly displayed was a logistical nightmare. It was mayhem with so many exhibitors rushing about to get everything ready on time! But with all hands on deck, we got there in the end and the stand looked wonderful.”

After an exhilarating weekend, George reflected: “I am so pleased that I was involved with the fair. I met so many interesting people, both artists and visitors, and got to view some incredible art. I sold another edition of my piece: The Day the Wind Stopped so it was definitely a worthwhile event for me personally.”

Several of George’s works will be shown at this year’s Manchester Art Fair which is to be held at Manchester Central Complex on 15-17 November.

George’s pieces which include Influence, Collision I, and Ascension can be viewed and purchased as part of Winsor Birch’s collection (stand 406).

Other artists represented by Winsor Birch who’s work will be featured alongside George’s include the fantastic Emma Rodgers, and comedian Johnny Vegas.

Manchester Art Fair is one of the UK’s most ambitious art fairs, selling modern and contemporary paintings, sculpture, photography and editioned prints from a selection of UK and international galleries. A full programme of events will take place over the course of the weekend including artist talks, children’s activities, demonstrations, and art classes.

George’s body of work was the central focus at Carden Park Sculpture Garden this weekend. Art curator and BBC’s Antiques Roadshow expert, Grant Ford hosted a guided talk which gave guests a unique insight into the individual stories behind George’s work. The captivated audience heard of George’s journey through chronic pain, heartbreak, healing and personal growth that have catalysed his creative ideas.

“It was an honour to have my work in the spotlight and be asked to come and speak about my individual pieces at Carden Park. My art is about connecting people to emotional experiences and people were really engaged and curious to hear about my work…many were keen to continue chatting after the tour! It’s always great to meet art lovers and introduce them to the processes and meaning behind my work.”

Returning for its third year, Shrewsbury Arts Trail will run from the start of July to the end of August.

This year’s theme is movement, and George is delighted to have been chosen to exhibit his work: “I feel that Collision I ties in perfectly with the theme of movement. This dynamic piece intends to capture the experience of spiralling through emotional chaos and yet a strange sense of peace and beauty can be found in a moment of stillness.”

Collision I will be on display and available for purchase at the Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery throughout the summer.

With a packed programme including exhibitions, arts installations, children’s art activities, open studios, workshops and music, this free public event will be held at various locations around Shrewsbury. Details on the full programme of events can be found here.

Unbroken by George Triggs has been selected for the ‘Highly Commended’ prize at The Qube’s Open Art Prize 2023. The Qube saw a huge turnout for the prize giving evening on 5 June where several prizes were awarded to some fantastic artworks by
local artists.

This free exhibition will be running until 22 July.

Unbroken is George’s latest work, but he has further plans for the piece:

“I have been working on Unbroken for a long time now, and I’m happy to have got it to a point that I can show it at galleries. The current edition has been created in jesmonite and I love the purity of the simple white tone, but I am intending to eventually produce a bronze version although I am still working out how I want the final bronze to look.”

Between 13 and 22 April, Mrs. Jones Art Gallery in Shrewsbury will be showcasing a selection of artworks as part of their latest exhibition, including a debut of George’s latest piece Unbroken.

This is a short, but impactful show featuring a wonderful array of talent – visitors won’t be disappointed!

Mrs Jones Art Shop & Gallery is a small, independent gallery in Shrewsbury, UK.
They opened in 2022, bringing a range of contemporary art and design from across
Shropshire, Wales and the UK.

George’s dynamic sculpture Collision I was recently photographed for the creation of @molybaron’s new album Something Ominous.

Last year the band travelled from Paris to visit George’s in-house photo studio in Shropshire to capture the piece. The final result is striking and presents the sculpture in a new context.

“It was great to collaborate with such a creative band who really did the artwork justice. They were really keen to use my work and knew exactly what they wanted to do with the piece. They went to such lengths to capture the right images and the band’s singer, Gary, who is also a graphic designer, has created something really beautiful. Combining artforms; sculpture and music, has given the piece a whole new meaning. It is always my hope that people connect with my work personally, and the
band have connected with Collision I in such a new and exciting way I that find it quite humbling.”

A new Shrewsbury art gallery is due to officially open its doors this coming January. Mrs. Jones Art Gallery owner, Faye Pearson Jones, has an exciting programme of exhibitions planned for the coming months, kicking off with a pre-Christmas pop-up
exhibition, which opens this Saturday 3 rd December and will run until 23 rd December.

“Coleham is just so full of creative energy right now. We can’t wait to move in and add some art to the mix,” says Faye.

Several of George’s pieces, including Ascension, First Flight, Into the Blue, and Love&Fear will be on display and available for purchase.

George’s two-metre bronze figure of a coal miner, commissioned by St. Martin’s Parish Council to mark the 50th anniversary of the closure of Ifton coal mine was officially unveiled today.

George says –

“So happy and proud to have created a sculpture that means so much to so many, keep having to remind myself it’s all definitely real! I‘m so grateful I was given this opportunity to remember the miners and all they did for so many, their spirit, their big hearts, immense bravery always lived on and now they rightly have a symbol of all of this that will hopefully share that far and wide for generations to come! I have worked with the most incredible, hard working and lovely people on this sculpture! The committee have astounded me in their tireless efforts to make all this possible! Castle fine arts bronze foundry have been truly world class as always! Friends and family have supported me through so much and I’m so truly thankful!”

George’s life-size basketball sculpture “Moment Before” is now situated on the weir gate platform at Pultenery Bridge, Bath. The sculpture stands over 12 feet, made from a mix of bronze and iron resin, with the supporting arc constructed by Border Fabrications in Oswestry out of stainless steel.
